As the complexity and shear volume of multimedia content continues to grow, so too has the number of display technologies to choose from. With more and more embedded installations now requiring richer display devices to handle the increasing complexities of HMI applications, the growing combinations of screen technologies, resolutions, sizes, functions and display interfaces (VGA, LVDS, TTL, DVI, DP and HDMI) to choose from can leave many feeling overwhelmed.

However, making a selection is only the first step in the process, the bigger challenge lies in understanding how the combination of technologies used in a chosen display device affects the integration process. With our proven expertise in integrating display devices for a wide variety of embedded applications, we will explore how to overcome this bottleneck in the system design process during our Embedded Android Forum 2015.

This session will begin with a rundown of the most popular display devices used for embedded applications, then move on to explaining the fundamentals behind the display integration process including preparing the frame data, programming the GPU to communicate with a variety display interfaces, and finally optimizing the output display through debugging. Attendees will come away with a deeper understanding of the selection process as well as a number of core techniques to utilize when integrating embedded display devices.
