VIA Announces VIA ARTiGO A820 Enterprise IoT Gateway System

Optimized for quick customization to support a wide range of application environments

Taipei, Taiwan, 29 September, 2015 – VIA Technologies, Inc today announced the VIA ARTiGO A820, an ultra-slim fanless gateway system with flexible customization options for a broad spectrum of commercial M2M and IoT applications.

Powered by a 1.0GHz Freescale™ i.MX 6DualLite ARM Cortex-A9 SoC, the VIA ARTiGO A820 comes with an optimized Linux BSP (Board Support Package) supporting all the key onboard hardware features to speed up development and deployment and facilitate system management. Dual Ethernet ports (one GLAN and one 10/100Mbps) together with optional Wi-Fi and 3G wireless modules enable flexible integration with the enterprise network and the cloud, while support for RS-232/485, 8-bit GPIO, and USB 2.0 means that the system hardware can be configured to meet the most exacting commercial application requirements.

The VIA ARTiGO A820 is a fanless, ultra-slim low profile enterprise IoT gateway system measuring just 15cm (W) x 3cm (H) x 12.5cm (D). Powered by a 1.0GHz Freescale™ i.MX 6DualLite Cortex-A9 SoC, the system features an on-board Micro SD card slot, 4GB eMMC Flash memory and 1GB DDR3-1066 SDRAM.

To maximize system design flexibility, the VIA ARTiGO A820 offers a rich array of I/O and display expansion options, including one Mini-HDMI port, one RS-232/485 COM port, one DIO port with support for 8-bit GPIO, three USB 2.0 ports, two Ethernet ports, and one miniPCIe slot. Optional Wi-Fi and 3G wireless modules are also available which can be supported through on-board USB pin-headers or the miniPCIe slot.

The system also comes with an optimized Linux BSP (Board Support Package) supporting all key onboard hardware features to speed development, deployment and ease system management. A full set of software customization services that speed up time to market and minimize development costs is also available.
