VIA C7-D processor powered, energy-efficient HP Compaq dx2040 desktop targets enterprise segment in China
Taipei, Taiwan, 16 June 2009 – VIA Technologies, Inc, a leading innovator of power efficient x86 processor platforms, today announced the VIA-powered HP Compaq dx2040 Microtower PC, an extremely energy-efficient and robust commercial PC for the China market. Powered by the VIA C7-D processor, the dx2040 offers enterprise users the right balance of performance, stability and long-term return on investment.
Building on the success of the dx2020 series from HP, the dx2040 is a desktop PC developed to meet the unique needs of enterprise customers in China. In order to be competitive on the world stage, China’s enterprise sector is seeking rapid adoption of computer technology that offers business users excellent stability, extended product lifetime and a lower overall TOC through reduced energy consumption and lower fuel bills.

About the HP Compaq dx2040 PC
The HP Compaq dx2040 is an entry level product available exclusively to enterprise customers in China. Housed in a robust Micro-ITX microtower chassis the HP Compaq dx2040 is powered by an energy-efficient 1.8GHz VIA C7-D processor and the VIA CN896 chipset. Supporting up to 4GB of DDR2 system memory the dx2040 is available in a range of different configurations including various optical drive and storage options.
The VIA CN896 IGP chipset features the VIA C-9 HC integrated graphics processor with a DirectX® 9.0 3D accelerator for high performance, a 2D accelerator for productivity applications and the C-Motion 3.0 CE Video Display engine which includes hardware acceleration for MPEG-2 video formats. Support for S-ATA II storage is provided as well as Fast Ethernet 10/100Mbps Broadband LAN, 6 USB 2.0 ports, a media card reader and VIA Vinyl Audio 5.1 surround sound.
