There was a full house at the VIA Embedded Android Forum held at ShanghaiTech University yesterday – not to mention over 6,000 viewers following the proceedings online through the live streaming channels we set up to broadcast the event in China and Taiwan.
To conclude the morning session, David Li, founder of the Shanghai Xinchejian Hacker Space, gave an inspirational presentation on the rise of maker culture in China and the huge potential it has for enabling creativity and innovation among the country’s business community.
Jason Chen, Technical Marketing Manager for VIA Embedded, kicked off the afternoon session with a presentation on our overall strategy and framework for enabling the rapid development of embedded Android devices for applications as diverse as industrial automation, HMI, entertainment, signage, and multi-screen video monitoring.
Following Jason’s presentation, top engineers from our Shanghai office showed the audience how to overcome key technical challenges in the development of embedded Android devices, including skinning Android for embedded applications, the selection and integration of display devices , gaining access to legacy I/O devices with Android, the remote management of embedded Android devices, and real-time streaming optimization for embedded Android devices.
We’ll be posting videos of all the presentations from the VIA Embedded Android 2015 Forum over the next couple of weeks.
We would like to express our great appreciation to ShanghaiTech University for hosting the event.
