Many key members of the VIA team headed to Nuremburg, Germany earlier this week to attend Embedded World 2020, one the most important annual tech exhibitions in Europe. This year VIA arrived at the show very much focused on sharing our latest in-vehicle solutions with attendees, with particular emphasis on our growing VIA Mobile360 family of solutions. Check out the videos below and catch VIA Product Marketing Manager Mike Fox give us a basic tour of the booth, and the solutions and demos we shared with customers this week:
VIA Mobile360 M800 Series – Safety Solutions for Larger Vehicles
Mike kicks off by introducing the two systems that make up the VIA Mobile360 M800 series, the Mobile360 M820 and M810. The core concept behind both of these systems is that they enable existing large vehicles such as buses, trucks, and even excavators and other mining vehicles, to integrate AI functions that greatly reduce the chance of accidents and fatalities.
Both systems integrate FOV cameras, sensors and advanced connectivity to offer a variety of advanced safety features, including a 360° Surround View System (SVS) that displays the vehicle’s surrounding area in real-time. Other features include Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that boast Forward and Rear Collision Warnings, Blind Spot Detection and more. We have also developed Driver Monitoring System AI algorithms that can detect when a driver is distracted, sleepy or even smoking on the job.
VIA Mobile360 D700 AI Dash Cam – Fleet Management Reimagined
Another headline solution at the Embedded World 2020 booth this week was the VIA Mobile360 AI Dash Cam, a next-generation dash cam device that integrates dual 1080p cameras that capture footage both inside and outside the vehicle. In effort to address the needs of large fleet management operations, we’ve also added CAN bus support so that vehicle telemetric data can be accessed in real-time. This means that managers have access to data related to fuel consumption, average speed, plus hard turns and braking thanks to an integrated G-sensor. With 4G connectivity baked-in to ensure drivers are supported in field and data is stored securely in the cloud, we also added two-way audio communication to further improve management options.
Having access to video footage and data sounds great from the perspective of fleet managers, but what if you have hundreds of vehicles on the road at the same time? How can you possibly keep track of all that data and garner actionable insights that make a difference to your operation? We teamed up with Amazon to achieve certification with their AWS Kinesis Video Streams (KVS) technology. Being KVS certified means that video footage can be automatically time indexed and encrypted with access control, live on-demand playback and advanced analytics at your fingertips. It’s also worth noting that the VIA Mobile360 D700 AI Dash Cam is in fact the first dash cam product to achieve KVS Certification status.
