PCI has been the standard peripheral bus interface for the PC industry for many years, with its successor, PCI-Express (commonly abbreviated to PCI-E or PCIe) now more prevalent in mainstream, especially in high-end PC systems, graphics, Gigabit and other high bandwidth peripherals. As of 2008, PCI is still used by many legacy and new devices that do not require the higher bandwidth of its successor.
The range of VIA PCI/PCI-Express Controllers offers system developers a choice of high performance, extendable connectivity options for motherboards, desktop PCs and embedded systems.
