Overview

VIA QSM-8Q80-MM Qseven™ Module

Designed to accelerate the development of next generation automotive systems, the VIA QSM-8Q80-MM uses a 1.6GHz NXP i.MX 8M Mini SoC packing Quad Cortex-A53 cores, plus a low power Cortex-M4 core. Supporting MIPI DSI and CSI interfaces for dashboard display and camera integration, the module enables the development of advanced fleet management and infotainment systems with two-way audio and video communication.

Hardware

Measuring 7.0cm x 7.0cm, the VIA QSM 8Q80-MM is fully compliant with the Qseven™ Rev. 2.1 form factor standard. Supporting a wide operating temperature of 0°C ~ 60°C, the module is designed for optimum durability in automotive applications. A rich multimedia experience is delivered with GCNanoUltra and GC320 graphics processing units, offering H.265/H.264/VP8 video decoding at up to 1080p@60fps.

VIA 8Q80-MM Qseven™ Module and Carrier Board Overview

Device connectivity includes support for 8 GPIO devices, 4 USB 2.0 ports, plus 1 USB 2.0 OTG client port. Onboard storage includes 16GB eMMC 5.1 flash memory and a Micro SD card slot, while connectivity is provided by Gigabit Ethernet with support for Wi-Fi and 4G LTE networking. Other I/O options include SDIO 3.0, I2C, PCIe 2.0, SPI, UART, I2S, PWM and JTAG.

Software

The VIA QSM-8Q80-MM features a Linux BSP which includes the kernel (4.14.98) and bootloader source codes for the 1.6GHz NXP i.MX 8M Mini SoC. Other features include a Tool Chain to help make adjustments to the kernel and to support the VIA QSMDB3 carrier board I/O and other hardware features.

A full set of software customization services that speed up time to market and minimize development costs are also available.

Expandability

Customers can take advantage of our multi-I/O evaluation carrier board, or utilize VIA’s extensive technical support to develop a custom baseboard.
