We’re pleased to announce the availability of a Speed and Reverse Light Sensor Kit for the VIA Mobile360 Forklift Safety System. The kit has been designed for use cases in bustling warehouse, manufacturing, and construction environments where forklift operators require maximum situational awareness to safely maneuver their vehicles. To deliver full functionality, the kit needs to be integrated in a system featuring the optional 7” CVBS display.
The kit features an IP67-rated speed sensor that can be installed on one of the front wheels of the forklift and an IP66-rated reverse light sensor for the rear of the vehicle. Other components include cables, a magnet and mounting bracket for the speed sensor, and a sensitivity control box for the reverse light sensor.
Speed sensor configuration and activation is a snap with the VIA WorkX app, which allows you to determine a Maximum Speed Alert for the forklift using your smartphone. When the system detects the vehicle exceeding the speed limit, it will automatically issue a “Slow Down” audio alert to the operator. The speed indicator will also appear on the display.
The reverse light sensor can only be activated after the speed sensor has been installed. Once this has been done, the UI on the system display will switch to provide a full-screen view of the front camera when the forklift is moving forward to enable the operator to immediately identify any potential safety threats looming ahead of the vehicle. When the reverse light sensor detects that the reverse light is on, the UI will switch to show a full-screen view of the rear camera that gives the operator full visibility of everything that is happening behind the vehicle while they are reversing it.
By strengthening operator awareness of the speed and direction of their vehicle, the Speed and Reverse Light Sensor Kit further boosts the safety and efficiency of forklift operations in busy locations.
