A collision with a forklift can happen in the blink of an eye when you’re walking around a busy warehouse or production environment. Even the most experienced and well-trained operator can find it almost impossible to react in time to avoid hitting you if you step out in front their vehicle from behind a loaded pallet or you are too engrossed in a conversation with a colleague to notice that they’re reversing from behind you.
With its smart people detection algorithm, the VIA Mobile360 Forklift Safety System harnesses advanced camera AI to boost operator awareness by delivering an audio or visual alert whenever it senses someone coming too close to their vehicle. The additional time the system gives the operator to take evasive action can make all the difference between a near-miss and a serious injury or even fatality.
The system is available in a choice of configurations to meet diverse customer requirements. The 3PD Package supports a 240° – 300° people detection zone using one rear and two side cameras, while the 2PD Package can be calibrated to create a zone of between 60° – 120° depending on the required detection sensitivity through its front and rear cameras. The people detection zone for both packages covers an area of between four and five meters depending on the camera installation height. The detection area can be configured with either a single zone (critical) or two zones (warning and critical) using the VIA WorkX smartphone app. A variety of voice, sound, and visual alerts are available with the system and can also be configured by the app.
