Overview

VIA VAB-950 Carrier Board
The VIA SOM-9X50 features the MediaTek Genio 500 octa-core SoC, up to 4GB LPDDR4 SDRAM, and 16GB eMMC Flash memory in a compact form factor. In addition to quad-core Arm Cortex-A73 and Cortex-A53 processors running at 2GHz, the MediaTek Genio 500 also has an integrated AI processor for deep learning, neural network acceleration, and computer vision applications such as facial recognition, object identification, and OCR. Hardware-accelerated H.265/H.264 Full HD video decoding ensures advanced graphics and video performance.
An optional VIA VAB-950 carrier board is also available to facilitate the integration of a wealth of I/O and connectivity features, including an integrated SIM card slot for 4G LTE, dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, two 10/100Mbps Ethernet ports, and Bluetooth 5.0, as well as one USB 2.0 port, one Micro USB 2.0 client port. The board also supports flexible HDMI, MIPI DSI and MIPI CSI-2 display and camera support options as well as multi-function pins for I2C, SPI and GPIO connectivity.
The VIA SOM-9X50 module measures 70mm x 55mm. The VIA VAB-950 carrier board is based on an EPIC form factor measuring 140mm x 100mm.

The VIA SOM-9X50 BSP supports Yocto 3.1 and Android 12.0. VIA SOM-9X50 Yocto 3.1 and Android 12.0 EVK packages to enable the hardware functionality can be downloaded here. A full set of software customization services that speed up time to market and minimize development costs is also available.
