VIA AMOS-820 Edge Computing System
Fast-track your IoT and edge intelligence deployments with the VIA AMOS-820. Combining the advanced compute and graphics performance of NXP i.MX 6Quad series processors with a wealth of I/O and connectivity features, this ultra-compact fanless system provides a highly-customizable low-power solution for a host of industrial IoT, enterprise IoT, smart transportation, and energy management applications.
The VIA AMOS-820 comes with an Evaluation Kit Image (EVK) featuring Android 6.0 or Linux to bring up system functionality. It is also Microsoft Azure Certified for IoT to enable seamless integration into the growing Microsoft Azure for IoT ecosystem and is compatible with FogHorn’s Lightning “edge intelligence” software.
With its ruggedized design and wide operating temperature range, the VIA AMOS-820 provides an ultra-reliable solution for mission-critical edge installations in the most demanding indoor and outdoor environments – from busy factory and warehouse floors to remote wind and solar farms.
Hardware
The VIA AMOS-820 edge computing system provides a choice of 1.0GHz NXP i.MX 6QuadPlus and 6Quad series quad-core SoCs as well as a rich array of I/O and connectivity features in a robust and durable small form factor. In addition to extremely low power consumption of a mere 7W under typical operation, the system supports a wide operating temperature range from -20°C up to 70°C. I/O and connectivity features include two COM ports, one DIO port, two CAN bus ports, three USB 2.0 ports, one HDMI port, one composite RCA jack, one GLAN port, and optional 3G, Wi-Fi, and PoE (Power over Ethernet) support.
Software
The VIA AMOS-820 edge computing system includes a choice of Android and Linux BSPs supporting both the NXP i.MX 6QuadPlus and NXP i.MX 6Quad series Cortex-A9 quad-core SoCs.
The Android BSP features Android 6.0 plus the VIA Smart ETK comprising a series of APIs, including Watchdog Timer (WDT) for safeguarding against system crashes, GPIO access, COM port access, RTC for auto-power on, FlexCan access, and a sample app.
The Linux BSP includes the modifications and user guide to create a system image including kernel (4.1.15) and bootloader source codes for the NXP i.MX 6QuadPlus SoC and the NXP i.MX 6Quad SoC. Other features include a Tool Chain to help make adjustments to the kernel and to leverage the onboard pin-headers, GPIO, I2C, and other hardware features.
The VIA AMOS-820 is Microsoft Azure Certified for IoT and is compatible with FogHorn’s Lightning “edge intelligence” software for enterprise and commercial installations.
Customization
You can enhance the functionality of the VIA AMOS-820 edge computing system with the integration of optional high-speed wireless broadband extender cards and modules, including the EMIO-2550 3G HSPA/UMTS Mobile Broadband Module, and the EMIO-2531 miniPCIe Wi-Fi + BT Module.
A full set of hardware and software customization services that speed up time-to-market and minimize development costs is also available.
