VIA VAB-820 Pico-ITX ARM Board

Powered by a 1.0GHz NXP i.MX 6QuadPlus Cortex-A9 ARM SoC with enhanced graphics and memory performance or a 1.0GHz NXP i.MX 6Quad Cortex-A9 SoC, the VAB-820 provides the perfect blend of high performance and low power consumption to meet the high end demands of advanced industrial, energy management and in-vehicle applications.


Based on the Pico-ITX form factor measuring just 10cm x 7.2cm, the VAB-820 is equipped with a rich set of I/O and connectivity features.


The VAB-820 BSP features Android 6.0 (NXP i.MX 6QuadPlus) or Android 5.0 (NXP i.MX 6Quad SoC) as well as the VIA Smart ETK comprising a number of APIs, including Watchdog Timer (WDT) for safeguarding against system crashes, GPIO access, COM port access, RTC for auto-power on, and a sample app.

The VIA VAB-820 Linux BSP includes the modifications and user guide to create a system image including kernel (4.1.15) and bootloader source codes for the NXP i.MX 6QuadPlus SoC or kernel (3.14.28) and bootloader source codes for the NXP i.MX 6Quad SoC. Other features include a Tool Chain to help make adjustments to the kernel and to leverage the onboard pin-headers, GPIO, I2C, and other hardware features.

A full set of software customization services that speed up time to market and minimize development costs is also available.


The functionality of the VAB-820 can be further enhanced with the integration of optional high-speed wireless broadband extender cards and modules.


The VAB-820 combines rich 3D graphics and HD video performance and flexible I/O connectivity options with a wide operating temperature range from -20°C ~ 70°C (3G & Wi-Fi not included) and extremely low power consumption of a maximum 7W TDP to provide a robust and reliable platform for a wide range of IoT and M2M applications in even the most demanding environments.
